News: EnB Emulator Release
January 11, 2008
Recently there has been an update to the Net-7 Emulator. This is what the message states on the www.enb-emulator.com's website.
"Hi all,
finally I think we are ready for another single player release. Sorry it's been so long but the Net7 team have been taken up with a lot of re-writes and overhauls to the code (re-factoring).
The end result is probably less apparent progress than you'd think, but in reality we've made quite a lot of progress.
What's new from 474:
This is a pretty big list, and I've forgotten where we were at with 474, but here is a rough summary:
- More sectors visible. Now you can admire more of the work put in by the content team, and let me tell you the sectors look incredible! Please note that because most people's PC's can only handle about 70 sectors we are forced to make a tradeoff between space sectors and stations. Therefore none of the stations outside of Sol, 61 Cygni and Alpha Centuri are working. I'll post simple instructions later on how to access the rest of the sectors.
- A lot of multiplayer code has been added, although you won't be able to sample it yet. Manufacturing, Trade, Grouping and other character interaction is now working to a certain extent.
- A lot of database work which is going to give us better character handling and allow us to directly import sector, station and item info from DASE for the live server. This is reserved for the live servers.
- MOB overhaul - they now fire back, and have working shields. When they hit you, your shields are depleted, but no hull damage can occur. You can also follow them around.
- New launcher, will make it easier to connect to the beta server when it's up.
- Landable Planets. You can now visit the planets, although for some you'll appear in odd places, maybe underwater or something, and it's still possible to fly outside the planet area, which takes you into graphic-glitch-space, that strange place that exists between the angles

- Sector Speed loading - the sectors should load a fair bit more quickly now.
- Station docking cams.
- Random Content. Space will seem a lot less empty now - you'll find MOBs cruising around, odd asteroid patches and so on. Also if you visit Arduinne planet you should find a few gas clouds down there (around the navs)!
There are lots of other little new things you may find, I've probably forgotten to add them, so without further ado, on to the server:
Net7_831_installer.zip ( 2.14MB ) Number of downloads: 1695
Some people may need extra runtime files, which can be found below. Just put these files into your windows\system32 folder (or Net7\bin may work as well).
DLL.zip ( 2.35MB ) Number of downloads: 1218
To get into Net7 first remove your existing Net7 installation. You can do this either by uninstalling the 474 release or simply deleting the Net7 directory.
After installation, go to the Net7\bin folder and run
LaunchNet7
After it has finished validating your installation click on 'Net7 Single Player' and then the 'Play!' button at the bottom.
Click on 'allow' if your firewall asks about internet access (and you trust us!).
Watch the E&B intro movie as it gives the server a chance to start up all the sectors - you'll see it printing things like this:
CODE
05/12/07 08:03:58 Port:3500 Sector:1015 `Luna`
05/12/07 08:03:58 Port:3501 Sector:1020 `High Earth`
05/12/07 08:03:59 Port:3502 Sector:1030 `Mars Beta`
05/12/07 08:03:59 Port:3503 Sector:1036 `Mars Alpha`
...
and so on. Once it's stopped it is safe to log in and create your character.
The default logins are:
Username: test, Password: test
Username: admin, Password: admin
The 'test' account disables most of the debug /slash commands, whereas 'admin' keeps them all - it's your server so your choice what you use.
As always, this release is dependent on a huge group effort, depending on work going back to the start of the project as well as that done recently. Without BOINC, no E&B-emu, without DASE or the content team, no content. Without the beta servers being set up, no multiplayer interaction, without the beta-testers, tons of bugs not fixed.
For the next release we're hoping to have even more content - not ones to rest on their laurels the content team have done the stations and NPC's; hopefully next time we'll be able to incorporate that work too.
We're also not far off opening a public beta server, but we want a little bit more stability, content and features before that goes ahead.
Enjoy!
cheers,
Tienbau."
News: EnB Emulator Net-7 Release Soon!
December 2, 2007
A few weeks ago the emulator team announced another update to the popular Net-7 Release which allows you to play the game on solo. Tienbau, one of the developers of the emulator has promised that it will be worth the wait. It will likely be a little prior to Christmas and it will be a great Christmas gift indeed!
In other news, background for the three other playable characters has continued. I must say that it is definately interesting seeing how the three additional professions were left out. My best guess is EnB was planning a purchaseable update to boost the games profit and members.

November 27, 2007
Finally the third edition of the News Center Net-7 Newsletter has finally been sent out to its subscribers. It also gives a detailed description on how to access the emulator in its current state.
Saga of Ryzom, EVE online, Vendetta Online, Jumpgate, and other mmo's with large EnB followings are also included in the update. This letter explains the current situations of each game in depth and functions as a link for all of the EnB community.
Besides the Newsletter more developments have occurred. A new videos page has been created and now is in the navigation bar. It has some interesting visuals on Earth and Beyond, past and present. News: New EA Games Forums
Help
Get EnB Noticed!
November 23, 2007
The old UK EA Games Web Forums closed down and created a new forum. This means that the thousands of posts that occurred before must again continue in order to get EnB noticed to EA.We need to let them know as quickly as possible how many of us our out there and how badly we want this game back. The link is http://www.forums.electronicarts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=280803.
Hopefully we will gain enough posts and attention for more of EA to hear our message and realize what a terrible thing they did to such a great game and community!

News: Happy Thanksgiving!
November 22, 2007
I figured I would say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and I hope their holiday is going great! (for those who celebrate of course) I've made a few updates to the websites with the links section and the coloring of the website. There were also a few code issues before that have also been fixed. A few interesting things have come along which I will likely have posted tomorrow. Will keep you posted!
News: EnB Emulator Installation Guide
November 19, 2007
Instead of searching through the chatter of the EnB Emulator site for info on how to install an run the program now, thanks to Dima, Starseeker, and Erdrick, there is an installation guide available. The link to this installation guide is http://forum.enb-emulator.com/index.php?showtopic=2806. This is probably one of the most important features of the website because it allows you to setup the program step by step for usage. In only a short time you can be running Earth and Beyond again. Hope to see you there soon!

News: EBPortal up, Enbexiles down
November 18, 2007
Over the past few months a few happenings have been going on with the Earth and Beyond Fan sites. Unfortunately, there is good news and bad news but we will start with the good news.
The Good news is that EBPortal, voted many times over as the best EnB Fan Site is back up online with its forums. This is allowing for people to get back into the EnBEmulator loops and EnB loop in total.
The Bad news is that EnBExiles.com, one of the first websites created after the EnBEmulator Website boom period, has gone dark. It seems it's creators no longer host the website altogether.
Go meet up with some old friends and make some new ones on the EB Portal Website!

News: Site Updates
November 17, 2007
Recently, I have updated the website quite a bit. Old pages have now been linked a lot more together with the new website which is allowing more of the website to be viewed again. Although my original intentions were a free flowing website that was easy to update its actually slowed me down in the past year. More news will be added and you will probably see new features coming to the website soon. With the money I've made on Treasure Trooper I am likely going to purchase for the first time some desperately needed updates to the website.
Thanks to all dedicated fans!
